They arrest the former member of Cuban intelligence for obtaining illegally residence

United States authorities arrested on Wednesday a former member of Cuban intelligence for having fraudulently obtained its permanent residence in the country.

So far the identity of man has not been revealed.

A statement from the National Security Investigation Division of the United States Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE) indicates that the arrest occurred in West Park, in Broward County, and agents participated in the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

Fraudulently obtaining the status of legal permanent resident constitutes a violation of the American immigration law.

The officials said that the arrest was part of the continuous efforts to identify and apprehend people who represent a threat to national security.

«This morning, ICE, HSI and the FBI administratively arrested a former member of Cuban intelligence for fraudulently obtaining their legal permanent resident status (LPR),» they explained.

Last year Martí News documented several cases of Cuban repressors who entered the United States, including Manuel Menéndez Castellanos, former first secretary of the Communist Party in Cienfuegos and nearby collaborator of Fidel Castro, who in August arrived in Miami for family reunification.

There is also that of Rosabel Roca Sampedro, former Camagüey prosecutor who settled in Houston, Texas, and Judge Melody González Pedraza, who arrived in the United States with a humanitarian parole after condemning four young people to prison for crimes against state security in Cuba.

Congressmen, organizations and members of Cuban exile have warned about the increase in cases of this type. Last August, the Patmos Institute warned about «the alarming trend of the entrance to the United States of responsible for the communist system in Cuba», which manages to deceive the American immigration service.

«The reality is that while Cuban repressors arrive in the United States with total impunity, their victims in Cuba remain hostage the horrors of Castroism,» the organization said in a statement.

That same month the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FHRC), An independent organization that sustains a project to identify those who have committed human rights violations on the island, said he identified more than a hundred who had managed to enter the United States, many of them lying.
