Seven years in jail to young man who protested in networks against corruption in Cuba

The political prisoner Alexander Fábrega Milanés was sentenced on Monday to seven years of deprivation of liberty for the alleged crime of «propaganda against the constitutional order» after denouncing corruption in social networks and the abuses of the Cuban regime.

The Chamber of Crimes against the State Security of the Provincial Court of Villa Clara issued the sentence against the 34 -year -old, accused of inducing in people, through social networks, the mood of attacking “against social stability and the order of the socialist state,” said the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights.

Judges Grisel Santos Suarez (rapporteur), Noraimys Blanco Echarte and Gerardo Risquet Carmenate signed the sentence, according to a court document shared on Facebook by the independent organization.

Fábrega Milanés had been held in an isolation cell in the slope, in Santa Clara, after shouting the dictatorship! And other anti -government slogans at the exit of the court where they held their trial, his mother, Luisa Maria Milanés Valdés, told Martí news last January.

According to the provisional conclusions, Fábrega Milanés tried to induce in people, through social networks, the mood of attacking «against social stability and the order of the socialist state.»

The Prosecutor’s Office argued in the trial that the defendant posted live messages on Facebook against Cuban ruler Miguel Díaz -Canel, questioning the political system of the country and urging citizens to go to the streets to «cause a social disorder.»

According to the sentence, through videos made live, Fábrega Milanés «questioned the system of the Cuban State and attacked the President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez while making a call to the people to carry out actions in the streets with the purpose of causing social disorder when he published ‘Pa the street until the dictatorship falls’,’ Civil disobedience is demanded. ‘Day 23 of the peaceful protest if the political prisoners are imprisoned also in support of them and their families. «

Experts point out that the Cuban regime uses the crime of propaganda against the constitutional order to punish the effective exercise of freedom of association, freedom of expression and political rights such as both active and passive suffrage and participation in political life.

This criminal figure is not tempering «to international standards, especially departure from this intangibility clause of article 4, which weighs a political ideology or a political system on the rights of all citizens,” lawyer Alain Espinosa, of the Cubalex Legal Advice Center, of the Cubalex Legal Advice Center, told Martí News.

Fábrega Milanés had already served a 9 -month prison sentence for the crime of «instigation to commit crimes», after a live broadcast through Facebook in the midst of popular protests of July 11, 2021, in the city of Sancti Spíritus.

Since his release, the 11J protester had received several Threats of state security, including that of returning to prison, for the critical publications he made on social networks.
