WhatsApp: They stop man for cheating with a currency sale


Moisés Enrique Villegas Quevedo, 30, has been arrested in Barquisimeto, Lara state, accused of cheating through the WhatsApp messaging application.

Douglas Rico, director of the Corps of Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations (CICPC), announced the arrest in its social networks, and highlighted the work of the San Juan Lara municipal delegation in the investigation.

The authorities acted after receiving multiple complaints against Villegas. «He was dedicated to the scam through WhatsApp,» Rico explained, detailing the modus operandi of the alleged cyber criminal.

According to the investigation, Villegas published foreign currency offers at «accessible prices» in their WhatsApp states. Once the victims contacted and transferred the bolivars, he disappeared with the money.

The police report indicates that Villegas «did not deliver the offered, harming the assets of the unsuspecting.» However, the Cicpc did not specify the total scammed amount.

Villegas was captured by detectives in race 13, Concepción Parish, Iribarren municipality. After his arrest, he was made available to the Superior Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry.
