Helicopter company involved in accident in New York closes its doors

The helicopter excursions company involved in an accident in New York where six people died on Thursday, including a Spanish family, will closethe US authorities announced on Sunday.

The helicopter company, New York Helicopter Tours, is «closing its operations immediately,» said the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in a statement in X.

«The FAA will initiate an immediate review of the license and security history of the tourist operator,» said the Civil Aviation Authority.

The National Board of Transportation Security (NTSB) investigates the cause of the accident.

Jersey City authorities affirmed that The hypotheses include collision with a drone, impact with birds or mechanical failure.

A video of the accident shows how the fuselage supposedly detached the rotor.

«They celebrated the mother’s 40th birthday with the helicopter tourist flight. The children were 11 years old or less, ”said Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop.
