Venezuelan military arrested Jesús Itriago, former official of the Corps of Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations (Cicpc), for crimes linked to drug trafficking, the Attorney General’s Office reported, who also accused him of being an «informant» of the DEA (United States anti -drug agency).
«He was apprehended to be charged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP, Prosecutor’s Office) former CICPC official Jesús Itriago for the crimes of conspiracy, legitimation of capital, traffic of narcotic and psychotropic substances, arms and association traffic,» Saab said in an Instagram publication.
The prosecutor said that Itriago provided information to the DEA, «which was intended to create a false positive about the Venezuelan State.»
«This person, taking advantage of his ex -official status served as a logistics operator of the drug trafficker Samer Salaheldin managing maritime routes for drug trafficking from Higuerote (Miranda state town, north),» he added.
In September 2020, the United States offered a reward of 10 million dollars for information that leads to the «arrest or condemnation» of three former Venezuelan officials, including Jesús Itriago, who for years have not appeared before a court and face charges of drug trafficking and other crimes, according to the prosecution of the Southern District of Florida.
According to a statement published on that date, Itriago was accused in January 2013 by a federal jury of Miami «of conspiring with others to import more than five kilograms of cocaine to the United States.»
In addition to Itriago, the United States offers a reward for Pedro Luis Martín Olivares, former Chief of Economic Intelligence of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin), and by Rodolfo Mcturba Mora, former head of Interpol in Venezuela. EFE
