Via Barinas-Mérida partially reopens after landslides; Follow clearing in Altamira-Calderas

After intense rainfall that caused the overflow of rivers and streams, as well as landslides that incommunicated several ways in the Barinas state, the transit has been partially restored partially on the important Barinas-Mérida National Highway.

Mayor Mayra Jaramillo reported during the early hours of today about partial reopening for vehicles and pedestrians, thanks to arduous work removal work. Through the social networks of Mintranesporte Barinas, the deployment of a joint operation between the State Government, the Ministry of Transportation and the Barinese Socialist Corporation of Infrastructure (Corsobain) was announced to address the road emergency.

The maneuvers included the use of heavy machinery for the removal of more than 600 cubic meters of sediments and rock material. A total of seven landslides on the road to Mérida and six in the Ramal-Altamira were clear. Mayor Jaramillo, accompanied by a Corsobain commission, inspected the Yuquita sector, the most affected by the landslides. Officials of the Bolivarian National Guard, the Bolivarian National Police, Municipal Firefighters and Civil Protection provided support and supervision in the field.

Currently, the works continue on the Altamira – boilers with the aim of restoring total connectivity in the region. Mayor Jaramillo emphasized that all actions are being carried out under the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro and a prompt solution to the situation is expected.
