Arrested owner of Collapsed disco in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Justice ordered this Thursday the arrest of Antonio Espaillat, a member of the family that owns the disco who collapsed two months ago with a balance of more than 200 dead, his lawyer informed the AFP.

«Yes,» said Miguel Valerio for a text message when confirming the arrest without offering more details. The Jet Set nightclub collapsed the morning of April 8 during the concert of the popular merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who died in the place.

His lawyer, Miguel Valerio, informed the AFP of the arrest, without specifying details of the charges that imputed him.

The powerful 59 -year -old businessman heads the family that owns the premises, as well as a media conglomerate and a restaurant.

Espaillat went to a summons of the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR), accompanied by Valerio and his sister.

«The Espaillat family was clear that he is open to cooperate with the investigation,» Valerio told the press when he arrives at the PGR.
