The commander of the Integral Defense Operating Zone (Zodi) Táchira, Michel Leonardo Valladeros, has announced that the border between Venezuela and Colombia will remain open in its usual schedule from 6:00 in the morning to 9:00 at night during the Holy Week horn.
In an effort to facilitate traffic and mobility during this festive period, the International Atanasio Girardot bridge will have an extended operating schedule, staying enabled until midnight.
Commander Valladeros also reported on the intensification of security measures in the border area and surrounding areas. «Similarly, day and night patrols will be performed in the border area, north, mountain, as well as in the city of San Cristóbal,» he said.
With the aim of preventing traffic accidents, speed control strategies will be implemented in the main road arteries of the Táchira state, specifically in trunk 1 and 5, through the Special Road Safety Unit.
To guarantee the integral security of residents and visitors during the Holy Week holiday, a total of 6,800 officials will be deployed throughout the Táchira state, according to Venvisión reported.
These measures seek to facilitate the flow of people and vehicles between the two nations during one of the most mobility seasons of the year, while prioritizing security and order in the border region and the main communication routes.
