«As of April 10, 2025, the citizens of these countries will be obliged to present a valid Brazilian visa to enter Brazil,» says the statement released by the Foreign Ministry.
The decision seeks to respect «the principle of reciprocity», since the three countries demand that requirement to Brazilian citizens.
According to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visitors who wish to travel to the country for tourism or businesses, can obtain the visiting electronic visa (E-VISA), which can be obtained without the need to appear to an embassy or consulate in Brazil.
In case of requiring a stay of more than 90 days, the presence of the interested party in one of the diplomatic representations of Brazil in his country is required.
The decision, taken in May 2023, was scheduled to enter into force as of October of that year; Then it was postponed by January 2024, but only so far will be effective.
Last year Brazil received 728,537 tourists from the United States, 96,540 from Canada and 52,888 of Australia, according to the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of International Tourism (Embratur).
