Feminists alert about «banalization of evil» in Cuba and ask the EU suspension according to the regime

Cuba is the only country in the western hemisphere where there is no comprehensive law of gender violence, they recalled feminist organizations this Sunday in an open letter, and asked the European Union to end the agreement with a regime that «has decided to live on their backs to social reality.»

The absence of this law, they said, defines «the most absolute contempt» of the Cuban authorities to the physical integrity of women.

«In Cubba, we are and live, given the banalization of evil and its naturalization. To deny the rights inherent to every human being is a serious crime, and as such should be recognized and fought firmly,» representatives of a dozen organizations of human rights and civil freedoms, including the female network of Cuba, tense wings and their Ogat gender observatory, citizenship and freedom of women, citizenship and freedom, Roots of Hope and the Council for Democratic Transition in Cuba, among others.

The independent platforms tense wings and I do believe you in Cuba last Tuesday confirmed a new feminicide on the island, where the scourge has already claimed the life of 12 women so far this year. According to the sub -registration of organizations, at least «women a month die victims of violence at the hands of their partners or sentimental partners.»

The feminists recalled in the letter that, in 2019, the Cuban Alliance for the inclusion and female network of Cuba launched the campaign «#Unidas for our rights» and presented a proposal of comprehensive law against gender violence in Cuba before the Human Rights Subcommittee of the European Parliament. Since then, «nothing has been done in the country,» they lamented.

«Foolishness and evil usually go hand in hand. Falaceous speeches and verbal attacks only deepen the inconsistency of a government, which, as the Cuban has decided to live on their backs to social reality; that is why we ask the European Parliament, and the high representative (Kaja Kallas), which in the debate that will take place on May 6 in the Eurocamara and cooperation with the government of Cuba, «the letter underlines.

The activists recalled that hundreds of people suffer from political prison in Cuba, including two opposition leaders: «The country dies and languishes, and in the meantime, the Cuban government has just revoke the extrapenal license to José Daniel Ferrer and Félix Navarro, two complete people, who are not willing to submit to arbitrary power.»

They also cited The case of the mother of the journalist and writer José Gabriel Barrenechea, Zoila Esther Chávez, an old woman who agonizes without the authorities allowing her to see her son.

«Cuban mothers have had to pay a price too high and unfair. How long? Foolishness and/or evil? You will say. Leaders and evil regimes exist,» they concluded.
