«Zero trips, zero remittances and zero dialogue» with Cuba regime, congressman reaffirms

Cuban -American congressman Carlos Giménez reaffirmed this weekend his call to the administration of President Donald Trump to cut all the roads of admission of dollars, and of approach, with the Cuban regime.

«We add to this initiative of zero remittances, zero trips and zero dialogue with the murderous dictatorship that tramples and represses our people of #cuba. We are working to eliminate all flow of dollars to the regime and its henchmen,» Giménez said in a post in X that closed with the #Patriayvida label.

In another post, the congressman demanded the liberation of all «unjustly imprisoned Cuban political prisoners in the duct of the murderous dictatorship» on the island.

He also warned that he continues to identify repressors of the regime that have been infiltrated in the United States. «It doesn’t matter if they have visas, whether they are naturalized residents or citizens. They will lose their status for lying and committed crimes against humanity. They have no place in the USA.»

The congressman has argued that a hard line position is the only way out to stop repression and lack of freedoms to which the Cuban regime submits to its citizens. In early April, Giménez sent a letter to the Treasury Secretary, Scott Besent requesting the «Cessation of all trips«Towards and from Cuba, as well as a prohibition of remittances of US citizens to family or friends there, except for specific humanitarian cases approved by Secretary of State Framework Rubio.

The congressman argued in the letter that the issue «is of great importance for the Cuban American community and for millions of Americans who consider freedom, democracy and human rights as our fundamental principles»

In A recent interview With the Varney & Co. program in Fox Business, Giménez said that the Havana regime is in a borderline situation, and suggested to the Trump administration how to precipitate the fall.

«They are on the edge of the abyss. And I think Trump should push them into a vacuum. That regime is illegitimate. It is a communist regime. He is an enemy of the United States that oppresses his own people,» said the congressman.

He added that the US government must stop immigration from Cuba, and the flow of remittances from the US to the island. «That feeds them with billions of dollars.»

Giménez’s request joins that of several sectors of Cuban exile, organizations and prominent US political figures that have requested for years the hardening of sanctions to Cuba, including the cancellation of travel and remittance shipments. His critics argue that these measures will only contribute to sharpening the humanitarian crisis on the island.
