A fire reported on Saturday at the Tallapiedra substation, in Havana, left a large part of the Cuban capital this Saturday, according to state media and shared the electricity union on Facebook.
Although, according to the report, the fire was small proportions and firefighters were able to control it «quickly», the fault that caused it caused affectations «to several clients from the municipalities of Havana Vieja, Centro Habana, Cerro, Ten of October and Plaza.»
«This is a local problem that does not affect the operation of the national electrical system. Specialists work to solve the failure,» said official journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso in a post shared by the state -owned Caribbean Channel.
However, users from different provinces of the country complained on the social networks of the lack of electric fluid. «The fire was in Havana, but why is Granma always in a blackout? It doesn’t matter where the affectation is, or what kind, it only matters to remove the current and nothing else. It is too much,» Royniel González, resident in the Eastern province, commented on Facebook.
Yaremi Delgado Suárez, from the province of Artemisa, described a similar situation with the blackouts. «Not one night, not an early morning, they leave San Antonio de los Baños alone. Neither tomorrow, no afternoon! I don’t know what has to happen to leave abuse, torture and whim,» he said.
In his daily report, UNE said this Sunday that yesterday the service «24 hours a day and the affectation was closed at 02:14 in the morning of today, until 06:34». The maximum affectation was 1588 MW in the peak schedule.
The breakdown that supposedly caused the fire in tallapiedra caused a blackout of about 8 hours, residents of the affected municipalities said.
«Our» robust electroenergetic system «casually tied the daily affectation of the block with the famous breakdown, 8 hours without current 3 blocks from the Capitol, incredible. We save the current to the entire Havana,» said José Gabriel García Núñez.
The electric company of Havana reported on its social networks that the service affected by the fire was restored from 12:35 am in the 20 circuits of the capital that were disconnected.
According to the official note, repair work continued in the place.
The situation of the National Electrical System (SEN) is serious. Declarations of officials of the electric company in Cienfuegos to local television shared in X by activist Mag Jorge Castro confirms: «We cannot rotate the circuits» with effects on the service, one of them answered to the journalist’s question. «In many days, the circuits have extended to more than 20, 25 hours, for the issue that does not give us the ability to rotate.»
In mid -March, Cuba suffered A mass blackout that left the country in the dark. It was the fourth collapse of (SEN) in recent months, due to the serious deterioration of the island’s electricity network.
The authorities then explained that a failure in the tenmeter substation, on the outskirts of Havana, had caused «a significant loss of generation in the west of Cuba and, with it, the SEN fault.»
The island suffered three SEN disconnections at the end of last year. The expert Jorge Piñón, director of the Energy Program for Latin America and the Caribbean of the University of Texas, who had predicted another collapse days before it happened, told Martí News that all the thermoelectric plants of Cuba «are almonds that break At least once a week. «
For this Sunday, it united it predicted an affectation of 1440 MW at the time of greatest demand.
