US Hospital Ship will depart in New Mission to Latin America and the Caribbean

The Usns Comfort hospital ship, of the United States Naval Forces, will be deployed in several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean between June and August 2025 as part of the Mission «Promise Continua 2025», reported the South Command (Southcom).

The Comfort plans to visit Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Granada, Ecuador and Panama.

In each of these countries, American military medical professionals will work together with their local counterparts to provide «direct care to the patient and technical experience in community clinics», in order to improve medical preparation and strengthen alliances in the region, said the Southcom In a statement.

The mission also seeks to «optimize the combined abilities of the American Navy and the partner countries to respond to public health disasters and humanitarian crises.»

Among the activities that the USNS Comfort will carry out are to provide support to the provision of medical care in local community clinics, as well as joint medical activities in other sanitary facilities of the host country.

The hospital ship will take containers with clinical donations for the roads, and will inspect and repair biomedical equipment in the different health centers where it will deploy its work this summer.

The training between military, exchange of experts in the field, humanitarian assistance exercises/disaster experts also plans
and concerts and activities organized by the members of the Band of the Navy.

«The mission will foster goodwill, strengthen existing alliances with partners and encourage the establishment of new alliances between countries, non -federal entities and international organizations,» said Southcom.

The number of personnel on board will vary according to date and place, which will allow personalized assistance on each scale of the mission, he added.

The USNS Comfort has mobile surgical facilities, and floating. With «Promise continues 2025», the hospital ship will complete its sixteenth mission.

Since 2007, the continuous promise medical staff has attended more than 601,000 patients and carried out more than 7,300 surgeries, positively impacted more people in the region than any other deployment of the US Navy in history, Southcom said.
