«All our migrants are being persecuted as criminals,» He declared during his speech from Caracas by videoconference at the IX Summit of Heads of State and Government of the CELAC, which is held in Honduras.

Maduro, who said That «threats» against their security prevented their trip to Tegucigalpa, said that it is the «most serious civilizational aggression since the time of fascism and Nazism.»

In that sense, he denounced the application, by the government of the US President, Donald Trump, of «a law contrary to public law and human rights at the international level», referring to the Law of Foreign Enemies of 1798, which the Chavista leader described as «anachronistic.»

With that law, Mature continued, «directly criminalizes any migrant to capture it and then expel it and put it in the worst conditions in a concentration camp that works as a jail in El Salvador.»

Under that law, USA deported more than 200 migrants to El Salvador, where they are arrested in a maximum security prison, accused of allegedly belonging to the criminal gang of Venezuelan origin of Aragua, indicated as a terrorist by Washington.

Maduro, who has denounced that fact as a «kidnapping,» asked Celac on Wednesday to lift «a common voice» and become a «powerful block» against «aggressions», among them, added, one of «economic character» against the development and prosperity of the region.

Previously, through a message on Telegram, the Venezuelan Chancellor, Yván Gil -who traveled to Honduras on behalf of Maduro’s administration -said that, during the meeting, the delegation that headed advocated the protection of the peoples of the region against the «arbitrary and harmful impositions» of the United States.

The regional appointment in Tegucigalpa occurs in the midst of a complicated political, social and economic situation for Latin America, which comes fragmented to this meeting and without a common strategy against the new pressures of Washington.

In her inaugural speech, the Honduran president, Xiomara Castro, said that young people have become migrants who, looking for the ‘American dream’, are today deported massively by the United States.
