Secretary of State and National Security Advisor

The President Donald Trump announced today that the Secretary of State Marco Rubio It has been designated National Security Advisorthus becoming the First official from Henry Kissinger in simultaneously exercising both positions of maximum responsibility in the foreign policy of the United States.

In a statement published on its Truth Social platform, President Trump said:

«I am pleased to announce that I will name Mike Waltz as the next United States ambassador to the United Nations. Since his time in combat, in Congress and as a national security advisor, Waltz has worked tirelessly in defense of the interests of our nation. I know he will do the same in his new role.»

On the appointment of Rubio, the president added:

«Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will serve as National Security Advisor, in addition to continuing with his solid leadership in the State Department. Together, we will continue fighting with determination to make America, and the world, be safe again.»

Rubio, who was appointed Secretary of State January 21, 2025he is the first official to occupy both positions at the same time since Henry Kissinger I did between 1973 and 1975during the presidencies of Nixon and Ford, in full cold war.
