The owner of the company that operated the helicopter that crashed in the Hudson River in New York says that the device was back to the base after warning that he needed to refuel fuel when the tragedy occurred.
«He called to say that he was going to land and that he needed fuel, he would have taken three minutes. But 20 minutes later, he had not arrived,» said New York Helicopter Tours CEO, Michael Roth, to The Telegraph newspaper.
The five members of a family of Spanish tourists who celebrated the birthday of one of the children were next to the pilot, the fatal victims of the accident, which occurred after 3pm, east time, this Thursday when the Bell 206 helicopter rushed to the river, near New Jersey.
Roth did not offer an explanation to the accident, but he was surprised by the images that show the device leave in two pieces before rushing into the water.
