«The pains are not removed,» says the mother of the Cuban political prisoner Roberto Pérez Fonseca

Liset Fonseca, mother of Roberto Pérez Fonseca, says that his son the pains are not taken away. The 11J political prisoner has several stomach ulcers, which in recent days have caused strong pain and intestinal bleeding.

The woman, who managed to visit her son last Friday at the Quivicán prison, explained to Martí News that the authorities told her that Roberto has scheduled a consultation with a specialist in the Quivicán polyclinic on May 21.

Foseca had been demanded medical attention for his child for days, who is not receiving the proper treatment.

«He felt a bit weak because what he was taking was a little milk, nothing more. The pains are not taken away,» he explained.

Liset Fonseca also revealed that his son, who spent several days in the prison medical post, was transferred back to his detachment at his own request, in the absence of doctors who could supervise his status.

Roberto Pérez Fonseca was sentenced to ten years in prison for his participation in the demonstrations of July 11, 2021. Both his mother and his brother, activist Albert Fons, have publicly denounced the serious deterioration of their health as a result of the terrible prison conditions.

Recently the Amnesty International organization demanded «immediate and unconditional freedom» by Roberto Pérez Fonseca, among a group of people deprived of liberty for defending human rights in Cuba.
