The number of people affected -who have suffered ravages but have not had to leave their homes -since the beginning of the year in Ecuador for the rainy season exceeded this Friday the 100,000, including more than 12,300 with a condition of victims -who they have had to leave their homes -while the deceased number remained in 19, according to the last official balance of damage.
So far, eight of the twenty -four provinces that make up the country, including the six that make up its coastal profile (Guayas, Los Ríos, Manabí, El Oro, Esmeraldas, Santa Elena) and Las Andinas Loja and Azuay, located in the south of the Ecuadorian territory.
The vast majority of those affected are concentrated in the province of Manabí, located on the central coast of Ecuador, with about 63,000 people who have suffered some consequence because of the rains, followed by Guayas, whose capital is the city of Guayaquil, with more than 18,000; and from the rural province of Los Ríos, with more than 16,000.
In material damage, the last report of the National Secretariat of Risk Management (SNGR) indicates that there are more than 29,000 homes affected with some type of damage, while 130 houses have been destroyed.
There are also ten destroyed bridges and another thirty with effects, as well as about half a thousand schools with functional damages.
In the field, about 50,000 animals have died and more than 6,500 hectares of crops have been lost while another similar number of hectares have lower degree effects.
Among the most recurring events because of the rains there have been landslides (40.58 %), floods (38.67 %), structural collapses (5.48 %), undercuts (5.3 %), gale (4.44 %) and floods (3 %).
According to the SNGR, the weather forecast warns that high intensity rainfall will continue in much of the country, especially in the coast and in the south, with greater relevance between March 13 and 17, during the afternoon and in the early afternoon.
