
The young influencer Sulmira Martínez Pérez, known as «Salem de Cuba», is still waiting for an official sentence more than nine months from the trial in which the Prosecutor’s Office requested a 10 -year prison sentence, recalled this weekend the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights (OCDH).
Martínez Pérez was arrested on January 10, 2023, in Havana, for publications in social networks in which he summoned Cubans to demonstrate in the streets against the regime.
After three suspensions of the trial without convincing explanation, the young woman was finallyjudged in November 2024and charged with the charges of «contempt» and «propaganda against the constitutional order.»
The Prosecutor’s Office said that the calls of the defendant in social networks pursued the objective of «changing the political, economic and social order established in the Constitution of the Republic.»
However, «so far an official sentence has not been confirmed» against him, he denounced the OCDH.
