Skaye is not just any dog. She is a Cuban German shepherd born in Matanzas who, under the guidance of coach Ale Sabina, has made history in the competitive world of IGP.

In a recent competition held in Miami, this dog achieved the unthinkable: three first places in key categories such as IGP2, better protection and high trial.

The impressive thing is that Skaye did not come to the event in its best physical form or with recent training. Even so, he left dogs with highly trained work lines.

In this way, it becomes the only German Cuban beauty line, born outside state clubs, which has achieved these titles on American soil.

IGP discipline: a challenge for true champions

The PPE (International Gebrauchshunde Prüfungsordnung), previously known as Schutzhund, is one of the toughest tests in the canine world. Evaluate obedience, tracking and protection. Skaye not only exceeded the challenge: he dominated competition.

This success is not isolated. Already in March of this year, Skaye had achieved the BH-VT and IGP1 titles, together with the best utility dog ​​award of the year. His progress is unstoppable.

From Misanzas to Miami: a journey marked by the fight

The road was not easy. Skaye was separated from its owner when she emigrated to the US, and to get to Miami she had to overcome gigantic obstacles. He arrived in the sick, weak and at risk of death, after suffering from ehrlichiosis and affiliates.

«It was very difficult because I am alone in the United States and I couldn’t stop working, but I managed to save her life,» said Ale Sabina.

Beyond the awards

Ale not only trains Skaye by passion. It has a clear goal: rescue the functionality of the German shepherd in Cuba, a race that, according to him, has been neglected by the breeders on the island. He said it without surroundings:

«My goal is clear: put the sport of IGP at the top representing my country and rescue the German pastor breed that is completely in decline.»

This triumph is just the beginning. Ale and Skaye are now preparing to compete at the national level, which could turn this German Cuban pastor into the first of its kind to reach that level in the United States.
