USA willing to use «all resources» to stop drugs from Venezuela

The United States said Tuesday that it is prepared to use «all» its resources in order to stop drug trafficking from Venezuela.

The White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, declared in her usual press conference that US President Donald Trump has been very clear and consistent «with respect to Venezuela.

«He is willing to use all American power resources to stop the entry of drugs to our country and take those responsible to justice,» said the presidential spokeswoman when asked about the reports of sending military vessels to the limit of the Territorial Sea of Venezuela.

Leavitt reiterated that Nicolás Maduro’s «regime» is not the legitimate government of Venezuela.

«The regime of (Nicolás) Maduro is not the legitimate government of Venezuela. It is a drug poster, according to the opinion of this administration. Maduro is not a legitimate president. He is a fugitive leader of this poster, accused in the US of drug trafficking to the country,» Leavitt insisted.

On Monday, the Reuters and other media agency reported that three American destroyers will arrive on the coast of Venezuela this week as part of an effort to address the threats of Latin American drug cartels.

In a televised meeting with governors and mayors of the country, Maduro announced the deployment of 4.5 million militiamen throughout the country, adding that «no empire will touch the sacred soil of Venezuela.»

At the beginning of the month, the US government doubled 50 million dollars the reward in exchange for information that facilitates the arrest of the president of Venezuela, thus raising the number of 25 million dollars (announced earlier this year.

Washington justified this decision, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, because «the drug control administration has seized 30 tons of cocaine linked to Maduro and its partners and almost seven tons linked to the» Venezuelan leader itself, while its portfolio «has seized more than 700 million dollars in assets linked to mature, including two private jets, nine vehicles and much more.»
