Jair Bolsonaro is an emergency hospital for strong abdominal pain

The former president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022), was admitted this Friday at a hospital in the city of Santa Cruz, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, according to sources of their political environment.

Bolsonaro, 70, was in the north of the country as part of a political tour, during which he was looking for support for an amnesty project for the extreme right -wing supporters convicted of his participation in the coup d’etat attempt on January 8, 2023. In that incident, the headquarters of the three powers of the State in Brasilia were assaulted.

The former president also faces investigations before the Supreme Court of Justice for his alleged participation in the planning of the coup attempt. The Attorney General’s Office accuses him of having been the mentor of La Asonada, whose objective was to overthrow the government of the current president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Sources of the Liberal Party (PL) reported that Bolsonaro experienced a strong stomach discomfort. Initially, he was treated in a Santa Cruz hospital and is considered the possibility of transferring him to a medical center in Natal, the capital of Rio Grande do Norte, located approximately 120 kilometers away.

The leader of the extreme right has faced recurrent digestive problems since September 6, 2018, when he was stabbed in the abdomen during the campaign for the presidential elections of that year in the city of Juiz de Fora. Since then, he has undergone multiple surgeries and has suffered various stomach and intestinal complications.
