Spain will open a new general consulate in Cuba, and with this measure it is expected to decongest the overloaded hube.

The official announcement was made by Xavier Martí, vice president of the General Council of Spanish Citizenship abroad, who said the new consulate will be located in Camagüey.

This step, expected for years, responds to the collapse caused by the Democratic Memory Law and the thousands of applications for nationality presented by Cubans with Spanish ancestry.

In Havana alone, more than 15,000 applications have been processed, generating a historical collapse.
