The deceased in the tragedy of the Jet Set disco in Santo Domingo increases to 231

The fatal victims of the tragedy of the Jet Set Set of Santo Domingo increased to 231, from them 221 in the premises itself and 10 in the health centers to which wounds were transferred, the Minister of Interior and Police of the Dominican Republic, Faride Raful, were transferred on Monday.

Thus, five new deaths are added in the last hours because of the collapse of the ceiling of the Jet Set disco in the early hours of last Tuesday, while the popular merenguero Rubby Pérez acted, also killed in the incident, in which more than 180 people were injured.

The minister referred to the commitment of the authorities when supporting the families of the victims and highlighted the importance of being with them and their relatives: «It is time to accompany them, to be supportive.»

According to the Dominican authorities, the 221 people who died in the disco died instantly, mostly for head or chest trauma.

In order to determine the causes of the accident, the Government announced last week the formation of a commission of national and international experts because, from now on, in the words of the Dominican President, Luis Abinader, he must respond to «what happened, why it happened and how the tragedy in the disco.

In this regard, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) Dominican opened an investigation about the events that occurred, while on the technical studies that are carried out by the National Office of Seismic Evaluation and Vulnerability of Infrastructure and Buildings (OSVIE) hopes that in about three months there are results.

For his part, one of Rubby Pérez’s daughters, Zulinka, announced that he will demand the owners of the nightclub, considering that the incident occurred for negligence. EFE
